Yet another dismal demise

. . . one more in a series of irregularly timed posts about bizarre deaths of famous people, mostly musicians . . .

Henry Purcell (above) died in 1695 at the age of 36. The circumstances of his death are not known with any certainty. The most popular story is that he caught a chill after returning home from the theatre late one night, only to find that his wife had locked him out of the house.  Another theory blames chocolate poisoning!
